the living map
a visible cartography.
a dispersed deck.
“A map says to you.
Read me carefully, follow me closely, doubt me not...I am the earth in the palm of your hand.”
Beryl Markham — Aviator & Adventurer (1902–1986)
what it records

The Living Map documents the distribution of individual cards from the Wounded Edition.
As single cards are purchased and placed, each may be registered by its new holder. The map records only city and country — no names, no personal details.
Over time, seventy-eight images form a growing cartography of dispersal — a record of where the fragments come to rest.

how it works
Each Wounded Edition card is sent as a blind draw — unseen until it arrives.
When received, the holder may choose to register its location through a short form on this site. Participation is optional.
Each point represents a card purchased and placed — not merely sold, but situated.
The map records movement, not identity.

when a deck is complete

Seventy-eight individual cards originate from one deck.
When all seventy-eight cards from a single deck have been released and registered, that deck’s cartography is complete.
Another deck begins.
Each unfolds at its own pace.
The map does not predict. It records.

why it exists

The first edition was not destroyed.
Instead, it was allowed to change form.
What was once contained now disperses. What was singular becomes distributed.
The Living Map is documentation — a cartography of continuity — made visible over time.

registration is simple.

If you wish to add your card to the map, submit:

No names. No addresses. No personal data.

Participation is voluntary; presence is enough.

The map will gradually become visible as registrations appear.
What began contained now moves outward.
